The Academy is growing and fast becoming a diverse and global community filled with members who share similar, but also varying, attributes, including personality, skill, experience, interests and goals.
The diversity London Real brings is really helping each member towards a path of action and success.
You’ll see that for most of us, the journey in the Academy really starts with community interaction as the basis of the energy and motivation that is needed to help identify a passion, start acting on a vision or staying accountable.
There are others in the Tribe, though, who participate by being less vocal, but still vital, in the community, collecting information from episodes, webinars and success secrets and applying them to each aspect of their life.
You don’t need to be a serial sharer on Facebook to get a lot out of the Academy. It’s okay to be a social media introvert and still get the benefits!
Founding 500 Member Aoife Kennedy, shares how participating in the community in her own way makes her feel more connected to the Academy because as a solo entrepreneur, she can always rely upon being inspired in what she describes as a “positive platform” and a “very very special place”.
Aoife caught my eye over the last few months due to her participation in each Weekly Webinar. So I approached her and I wanted to know more about how she was applying all of this content.
Aoife was introduced to London Real after losing her job and then half of her family emigrated to the Middle East.
This member interview really highlights how the growth in Aoife’s career and character shifted, and led her to the path of entrepreneurship and why her business decisions are now ultimately based on her heart rather than her head.
Member Interview with Aoife Kennedy
Tell us about yourself and what you do
“My name is Aoife Kennedy and I run a business called Hairfairy. I specialise in colour correction and hair transformations, working with women who want a complete change and new image, while bringing a unique and exclusive salon experience to the high spending females in the region. Having worked in top salons and participated in lots of freelance work over the years, I felt that the salon industry was lacking the intimacy which every female craves during a salon experience, and I wanted to create a safe welcoming space where every woman has the privacy to express their needs and frustrations when it comes to hair and image issues. I wanted to adapt a new organic holistic approach to Hairdressing and change the game!”
What one event shapes your personality and character?
“A few years ago prior to my business now, I was so so filled with anxiety and panic because the family run business I had run with my mother shut down and I was left jobless, plus half of my family emigrated to the Middle East and I had no clue what to do. I felt so helpless and so scared. It was a real sink or swim moment in my life! So with the help and support of my wonderful husband Jody (fellow London Real Academy member), I went to a therapist and then set up a mobile hairdressing business. At that time, my husband introduced me to London Real, it had such a huge impact on my life from listening to a specific episode with Geoff Thompson on Fear. It pushed me into starting to find a premises for my business and really take it to the next level as I realised in my life, Fear had totally consumed me and controlled me. I knew taking on a new business venture with a premises would be so great for my personal development, as I was struggling to do even silly tasks day-to-day my anxiety was that bad. So, I just went for it!!! I decided to take the leap and it’s been the best decision I have ever made.“
Why does colour correction and hair transformation hold your passion?
“It is massively creative and empowering to me that I can change how a person feels by creating a new look for them or improving their confidence over time, fills my heart with such joy. I have worked with women coming back from battles with cancer and that have lost all confidence and power, this was the most amazing experience I have ever had, to see these women each month and to help them manage and coach them through this hugely difficult time with hair and makeup consulting. It felt like a huge gift and like I never wanted to be paid. I know it is my Dharma in life. That was where I found huge enthusiasm and passion.”
As an entrepreneur, what is your definition of value?
“To provide the best possible service and experience in a wonderful, calm, positive, relaxing atmosphere, as well as to educate the client about colour and hair, which they can use daily and not only when they step out of the studio. For me, value is when the customer is glowing from the inside out I feel like we have exchanged energy and I have connected to complete bliss, it totally satisfies my soul. I think value as Geoff Thompson said is ”an exchange of energy’.”
Which quotes from London Real guests inspire you?
What are your top 3 Webinars?
How do you apply information from the Weekly Webinars to your career?
“I learnt from Philip McKernan to listen to my heart more not my head, which has taught me to follow only things in my business that I love and am passionate about. He also said get crystal clear on your vision, which has allowed me to find the disconnect. Peter Sage taught me that stress is life not fitting in with my picture, so in business I have learnt to let go and let the river take me where it wants to and to remember that we cannot control everything. Daniel Priestley makes me think about my product ecosystem so that I can improve the value of my business. I am also learning that you cannot do everything solo, a business needs a team! It was a huge wake up call for me. I have now put this into practice. For example, I have outsourced accounts to a bookkeeper, have help with calls and emails. Outsourcing is required for time management and gives me some down time that I need.“
Tell us how London Real Academy contributes to your life
“The Academy has contributed to my life so much!! Having access to all these wonderful mentors, including Dan Peña and Peter Sage, giving away all of their value, knowledge, and experiences is so amazing that we have access to the best minds on the planet for the smallest fee. The variety of guests and podcasts that I have listened to have shaped my life greatly in the past few years. By making more decisions based on my heart versus my head, happiness now wins out every time.”
